Bob Dawson
developed an interest in the investigative field while
serving in the Military. After completing law
enforcement studies and serving
as a detective and homicide officer with the Knox
County Sheriff’s Office, in 1960 he entered the private
investigation profession.
In 1980, Dawson helped form the first private
investigators association in the state, Tennessee
Association of Private Investigators, where he served on
the Board of Directors for several years.
In 1991, he was elected as Vice Chairman of the
Tennessee Association of Investigators and later served
as Chairman of the Knoxville Chapter.
In 1993, Mr. Dawson founded the Tennessee
Professional Investigators Association, serving as
Chairman for three years.

Under his
leadership, this Association grew to be one of the
leading professional associations in the South.
In October 1996, the Governor of the State of
Tennessee
asked Mr. Dawson to serve on the
Tennessee
Private Investigation and Polygraph Commission, the
regulatory board for the profession.
Mr. Dawson
resigned his position as Chairman of the Tennessee
Professional Investigators Association in order to serve
two five year terms on the Commission. During this
10-year span, he was elected Chairman of the Commission
for six consecutive years.
Mr. Dawson’s experience and work ethic allow him
to enjoy an excellent reputation for professionalism and
results.
